Joyce Mentrup Obituary

Published by Legacy on Sep. 5, 2025.
Joyce Patricia Mentrup, age 90, of Milford, passed away on September 3, 2025. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and devoted friend. Born on September 10, 1934, in Cincinnati, Ohio, Joyce was a lifelong resident of the area, where she cultivated deep roots and cherished relationships within the community. Joyce was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 37 years, George H. Mentrup, with whom she shared a life full of love, partnership, and cherished memories. Together, they created a warm and nurturing home that lives on through their children: Wayne Mentrup, Vicki Mentrup (Tony Mitchell), Bruce Mentrup (Sandee), and Clifford Mentrup (Lois).

Her legacy also continues through her grandchildren-Jennifer (Will) Beckley, Charles (Brittany) Batsold, Tyler (Emily) Mentrup, George Mentrup, and Emily Joyce Mentrup-as well as six treasured great-grandchildren who brought immense joy to her life.

Joyce was the loving daughter of Clifford Lefler Sr. and Hazel (née Thomas) Lefler, both of whom preceded her in death. She was also predeceased by her brother, Clifford Lefler Jr. who was killed-in-action in Vietnam. She is survived by her brother Jeff Lefler and a host of family members who carry forward her memory with love and gratitude.

As a homemaker and office manager for the family business, Joyce poured her heart into her family, creating a haven filled with love and support. Her passion for animals brought much joy to her life; she was known for her adoration of dogs, which brought playful energy to her home. Joyce had an enthusiasm for life that shone through her love of shopping, traveling, and spending time with her grandchildren. She often found delight in playing games and cherished family outings, particularly trips to the zoo where she would share her love of animals with her grandchildren.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, September 13th at 10:00 AM at Milford First United Methodist Church (541 Main St, Milford, Ohio 45150), followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery (11000 Montgomery Rd, Cincinnati, Ohio 45249.)

Those wishing to honor Joyce's memory are invited to reflect on the countless ways she touched the lives of those fortunate enough to know her. Her spirit of kindness, love for her family and animals, and her joyful nature will forever be held in the hearts of her family and friends.
