Joyce A. Merida, a cherished resident of Cincinnati, Ohio, was born on January 5, 1966, and entered eternal peace at her residence on December 30, 2025. Known affectionately for her fun-loving spirit, Joyce was truly the life of the party, bringing joy and laughter to all fortunate enough to know her.
Raising two beautiful children, Terry Douglas Lafevers and Danielle Nicole Lafevers, Joyce dedicated herself to family, exemplifying love and nurturing care. Her vibrant personality resonated not only with her children but extended to her role as a devoted grandmother to Andrew Lafevers, Hannah Lafevers, Mya Rose, and Mykell Rose, whose lives she filled with warmth and unforgettable memories.
Joyce’s educational journey took place at Western Hills High School, where she made lasting friendships that continued throughout her life. Her love for flowers was matched only by her delight in spending time with family and friends, as well as her fondness for visits to the Cincinnati Zoo. These simple pleasures defined her approach to life, embracing every moment with enthusiasm and laughter.
Joyce is survived by her beloved significant other and life partner, John Lay, who stood by her side through thick and thin. She also leaves behind her dear siblings—brothers Donald (Diana) Bastin and Ronald (Barb) Bastin, along with sisters Linda (David) Lindley and Michelle (John) Foster—each of whom carries cherished memories of her kind heart and infectious smile.
Though Joyce’s journey has concluded, she is welcomed into the arms of those who have passed before her, including her mother, Opal Bastin, her father, Eules Bastin, and her precious grandparents, along with beloved aunts, uncles, and her nephew, Adam Lindley.
Joyce will be honored during visitation and funeral services at Dalbert, Woodruff & Isenogle Funeral Home, located at 2880 Boudinot Ave., Cincinnati, OH. The visitation will take place on Friday, January 9, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, followed by a funeral service commencing at 6:00 PM.
