Joyce Bannister Shaw passed away peacefully at the age of 96 in Ventura, California. Joyce was born on July 31, 1929 in Seattle, Washington to George Weston and Matilda Pauline Bannister. Joyce spent her childhood years in Seattle attending John Muir Elementary and Franklin High School. Joyce also attended Washington State University. While in high school, Joyce was selected as Snow Queen for the city Seattle. In 1953, Joyce married William F. Shaw, Jr. and moved to Southern California, eventually residing on the beach in Oxnard, California. During her life, Joyce worked as a secretary at the Boeing Company in Seattle, and as a real estate agent and a office manager for Voss Construction in Oxnard. Joyce was a long time resident of Silver Strand Beach in Oxnard and spent the last couple of years at the Aegis Assisted Living facility in Ventura, California.
Throughout her life, Joyce was very artistic and she enjoyed playing bridge, reading and travelling around the globe and taking numerous cruises with her children and grand-children.
Joyce was pre-deceased by her husband Bill, her parents and her sisters Evelyn Ross, and Sherlee Culbertson and her brother Jack Bannister. She is survived by her three children, Kathy (and Jim) Carr of Oxnard, Nancy (and Tom) Noakes of Santa Barbara and Bill (and Karen) Shaw of Moorpark. Additionally, Joyce is survived by her grandchildren, Jim (and Brooke) Carr, John (and Beth) Carr, Billy Shaw and Kathleen (and Matt) Shaw and several great grandchildren.
The family is very thankful to the employees at the Aegis Living facility for the wonderful and loving care provided to our mother during her last couple of years. Joyce was a believer in the Lord and, as such, the family knows that she is with Him now in heaven in his everlasting loving arms. We will miss you greatly Mom, but we are comforted knowing that someday we will all be together again with you in heaven. A private family service will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are under the direction of the JOSEPH P. REARDON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICE, Ventura.
