Joyce L. Sheppard, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on January 4, 2026, in San Antonio, Texas, at the age of 94. Born on August 18, 1931, in Simmons Bottom, Texas. Joyce dedicated her life to her family and faith, embodying the essence of a loving homemaker. Throughout her life, Joyce was known for her quiet personality and her unwavering commitment to her loved ones. Joyce's nurturing spirit was evident in her hobbies; she was an accomplished quilter, creating personalized quilts filled with love for her grandchildren. Her passion for reading and cooking also brought joy to her family, and she loved her favorite flowers—roses, lilies, and poinsettias, which she adored, especially during the Christmas season.
Joyce is survived by her daughter, Terry Murphy and husband Philip of Castroville, Texas, sons, Dennis Sheppard and wife Randi of Enigma, Georgia, and Drew Sheppard and wife Deana of Tyler, Texas. She leaves behind a joyful legacy through her grandchildren: Kim Murphy, Tracy Murphy, David Murphy, Jeremy Sheppard, Shawna Cribb, Kristen Garrett, Jamie Alvarez, Kaylin Moore, and Liam Sheppard, along with 19 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren, who will all remember her with fondness.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey A. Sheppard; her parents, John J Croft and Ola Mae; brother, Donald Croft and sister, Marlene Coots. The Sheppard family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude and love to the caregivers at Cryst Care, owners, Yvette and Steve Toth along with caregiver Sashoi. Honoring Joyce as pallbearers are Austin McCool, Kevin McCool, Colby Moore, David Murphy, Jonathan Murphy, Cole Sheppard, Jeremy Sheppard, and Liam Sheppard.
