Joyce Van Horn, age 91 of West Bend, passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at the St. Luke Lutheran Home in Spencer. Funeral Service will be 11:00 AM Monday, February 12, at Peace Lutheran Church in West Bend with burial at St. Luke's Lutheran Cemetery in Fairville. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Services have been entrusted to Lentz Funeral Home of West Bend.
Joyce Lavonne Van Horn, the daughter of Louis and Anna (Hoeppner) Miller, was born on June 14, 1932 in Fort Dodge, Iowa. She graduated from Mallard High School in 1949. On December 6, 1953, Joyce was united in marriage to Lyle Wayne Haack at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Emmetsburg. They farmed the Fenton and Cylinder area. After Lyle's passing, Joyce and their daughter, Lori, moved to Emmetsburg. Joyce was later remarried to Richard Walter Van Horn on August 5, 1977 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Emmetsburg. They lived in Emmetsburg until 1979 then moved to West Bend. Joyce enjoyed playing card games, especially 500 and Pinochle. She also enjoyed crafts, needlework, and quilting.
Left to cherish Joyce's memory is her daughter, Lori (Ryck) Hale of Arnolds Park. She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Anna; husbands, Lyle and Richard; sister, Doris Sheer; and friend, Howard Struecker.
Memorials may be directed to Peace Lutheran Church and sympathy cards may be mailed to Joyce's family at 429 Emerald Dr, Arnolds Park, IA 51331.
