Joyce E. Vaughn, 92, passed away peacefully at Azalea Health and Rehabilitation Center in Metter, Georgia on July 12, 2025, with her family by her side. She was preceded in death by her husband James Bruce Vaughn, her son, James Bruce Vaughn, Jr. and daughter Pamela Sue Mood.
She is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Rountree (Alden), grandchildren, Charles Rountree (Katelyn), Ryan Rountree, Marley Rountree, and Jennifer Wells (Tim) as well as three great-grandchildren, Autumn Rose Rountree, John Alden Rountree and Piper Leigh Rountree.
Joyce was born in Alpine, Tennessee on March 27, 1933. Joyce and her husband raised their children in Savannah, Georgia where Joyce was a stay-at-home mother and fashion consultant at Fine’s Department Store. Joyce, a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, enjoyed gardening, sewing, quilting and handwork. She created many heirlooms that will be cherished by her family. Joyce will be laid to rest at Greenhill Cemetery in Alpine Tennessee next to her childhood home. In lieu of flowers family request gifts to St. Jude’s’s Children’s Hospital.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, July 19, 2025, at 11 o'clock in the morning at Speck Funeral Home in Livingston, Tennessee.
Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery in Alpine, Tennessee.
Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel, of Metter is in charge of the local arrangements.
