Together Again -- Joyce J. Yoder, age 79, of Orrville, passed away Saturday, April 13, 2024, at Smithville Western Care Center in Wooster, following a brief period of declining health.
Joyce was born on June 21, 1944, in Massillon, Ohio, to the late Carl and Ruth (Beck) Saltzman and married Donald R. Yoder on June 30, 1962, in Orrville. Donald passed away on June 18, 2016.
She graduated from Orrville High School in 1962. Joyce worked as a waitress and cashier for Hawkins Market in Wooster and was the co-owner along with her husband, Donald, of D & J Hobbies in Orrville.
Joyce was a member of Christ United Church of Christ. She enjoyed reading, bowling, jigsaw puzzles and playing cards. One of Joyce's hobbies was collecting cat figurines, trinkets, and pictures. Most of all she cherished spending time with her family.
Surviving are son, Tim Yoder; daughter, Marilyn (Doug) Briggs; three grandchildren, Bryan Yoder, Megan (Jesse) Merrill, and Jeremy Briggs; four great grandchildren, Matthew Yoder, Jacoby Yoder, Ellie Merrill, and Tristan Briggs; brother, James J. (Nina) Saltzman; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.
Friends may call on Friday, April 26, 2024, at Auble Funeral Home, 512 East Oak Street, Orrville, from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
Memorial services will follow at 7:00 pm on Friday, at the funeral home, with Pastor Chris Nichols officiating. Per Joyce's wishes cremation took place and burial of ashes will take place at Crown Hill Cemetery in Orrville.
