Joyclin L Ely

Joyclin L Ely 93, of Bolivar, died Saturday November 16, 2024 at the Inn at University in Massillon. Born April 13, 1931 in Dover, she was a daughter of the late William F. and Louise (Hawk) Kerns. She attended the former Bolivar High School and graduated from the Canton School of Cosmetology in 1950. While living in Baltic, she operated a beauty shop in their home for 8 years, then was employed a the First Lady Beauty Shop in Dover. She retired from Tuscarawas Valley School District after 20 years where she worked as a cook. She and her husband have traveled to all 50 states and 10 foreign countries. She was an active member of St. John United Church of Christ at Bolivar, a former member of the retired Cafeteria Cooks of Tuscarawas County and was a member of the Tri-County and Penn-Ohio Model A Clubs.
She is survived by her husband Robert F. Ely, whom she married June 3, 1951. Also survived by a daughter Donna Ely of Massillon, a daughter in law Sheree Sinclair of Massillon, granddaughters Terra (Jon) Wonsettler of Massillon, Tana Ely of Massillon, great grandchildren Addison, Matthew, Olivia Wonsettler, Zaed Ely and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son Dale Ely and brother Charles Kerns.
Services will be held Thursday, November 21, 2024 at 11:00 AM at St. John United Church of Christ in Bolivar. Pastor Don Perks will officiate and burial will follow in Ft. Laurens Cemetery in Bolivar. Friends may call at the church on Thursday from 10:00 AM until time of services at 11:00 AM. The Lebold-Smith Funeral Home in Bolivar is handling the arrangements.
