Joye Bambrough Boman

Joye Bambrough Boman, our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away peacefully on July 24th, 2025, to reunite with her eternal sweetheart and family. She died of old age after a long and beautiful life.

Joye was born and raised in Cornish, Utah, to Alma Leonard Bambrough and Sarah Kendell. She has three siblings that preceded her in death: Erma Anderson, Beth Petersen and Dean Bambrough.

Joye graduated from North Cache High School in 1944. She was planning to attend Utah State University that fall, but instead married Ray Lamarr Boman on August 18, 1944, at the young age of seventeen, while he was home for a one week leave during World War II. The Salt Lake Temple was open for one day to allow service men to be sealed. A few days after they were married, they left for Florida where Ray was training to become a naval fighter pilot.

Joye’s greatest joy was her four children: Brenda (Paul) Carter, Lindon, UT; Bradley Ray (Mary Ann) Boman, Pasadena, CA; Al Lamar (Lisa) Boman, Eagle Mountain UT; and JoLene (Brent) Bunnell, Lindon, UT and their 14 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Joye dedicated her life to serving her family and others.

Joye loves the temple. Joye and Ray served as ordinance workers in the Bountiful Temple for three years. She and Ray would plan their vacations based on temples they hadn’t yet visited. This took them around the globe. Joye continued with this goal even after Ray passed twenty years ago. She has visited over 100 different temples.

Joye was a valiant disciple of Jesus Christ. She and Ray served two missions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints: first in Micronesia, Guam and then in Orlando, FL. She held many leadership positions in the church and community. She served in Mutual, Primary, Relief Society, and scouting. She was heavily involved in PTA and in the Soroptimist Club and served as the President of both. She was a great example of service to her children and grandchildren.

Joye’s favorite place to visit was Lake Powell. She would go several times a year and loved being on the lake with family and friends. She loved water skiing and playing cards every evening. She missed going to Powell the last couple of years of her life due to frailty and always talked about wanting to go when her children were going.

Joye’s other favorite activities were snow skiing, crocheting, sewing, visiting exotic places and traveling in the motor home. She and Ray had their “gang” of cherished close friends that became like a second family. Joye prioritized time to help her children and grandchildren. She was always cheering them on at swim meets, tennis matches, school performances and recitals.

Joye worked at Hill Field until she became a mother. Thereafter, she was primarily a stay-at-home mom. She was an avid seamstress and worked for a time at a local fabric store. She had a home business selling boating shoes at boat shows and county fairs. In her later years, she volunteered weekly at the temple, the Golden Years Center helping the “old people”, and Lakeview Hospital. At age 95, she moved into an assisted living facility in Lindon, Utah to be near her children. It is there that she passed away at age 98.

Funeral Services will be on Friday, August 1, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Russon Mortuary, 295 North Main Street, Bountiful, Utah. A viewing will be held prior to the service from 8:45-9:45 a.m. Interment at Lakeview Cemetery.
