Juan Carlos Colon, 39, of Manchester, best friend and husband of Alicia Hernandez, and amazing father to J'Aun and Caleesi Colon, entered the gates of eternal peace on Thursday, April 27, 2023.
Juan was born in Barranquitas, Puerto Rico, the son of Juan Colon and Maria Cruz, both of East Hartford, and graduated Salutatorian from Sports Science Academy in Hartford. He received his Bachelor's Degree from the University of Connecticut and was the proud owner of Primetime Auto Sales and Repairs LLC in New Haven. Juan was a strong supporter and advocate of local and small businesses. Being a small business owner himself, he understood the importance of supporting everyone with a vision and a goal, no matter what it was. Juan loved the Lord and was a devout member of Crossroads Cathedral in East Windsor.
Juan was a loving husband, father, son, brother, in-law, nephew, uncle, cousin, and dear friend. He will fondly be remembered as a giving, caring, and wonderful man who loved his family more than anything. His wife, Alicia was his rock; his mother, Maria was his foundation; his son, J'Aun was his strength; and his daughter, Caleesi, was his heart. More than anything, he was a supportive husband and father and loved spending time with his family and doing everything he could with them. Juan had a generous nature and would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. He was larger than life and had an amazing personality and sense of humor. Juan had a heart filled with love and touched the lives of everyone he met, even if it was just for a short time. He leaves a legacy of beautiful memories that will live in the hearts of everyone who knew and loved him.
Juan was very proud of the fact that he earned a black belt in Karate. He had a passion for cars, which made him very good at his job and, as a perfectionist, he made sure that everything he touched, or had his name on it, was done right. Juan loved sports, especially football, and was a loyal Dallas Cowboys fan. He enjoyed playing flag football on Sundays and traveling to other states for the games. He was also very excited to see the growth of the female football league and supported the Lady Matrix Youth Football Team. Juan loved listening to all kinds of music including Country, Old School Hip Hop and R&B, and Bachata, which was his favorite.
In addition to his wife and soul mate, Alicia, his parents, Juan Colon and Maria Cruz, his step-father, Leoncio Polanco, and the lights of his life, J'Aun and Caleesi Colon, he also leaves to cherish his memory, his brothers, Lee Colon and his significant other Jacqueline Valentine of New Britain, and Alexander Colon and his partner John Pelham of East Hartford; nieces and nephews, Jonathan Colon, Mason Colon, Ricardo Colon, Lucynda Martir, and Ella Rose Serrano; a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins, both here and in Puerto Rico; and many dear friends.
Juan had a very special relationship with his in-laws, who he loved as if they were his own family, his father and mother-in-law, Juan Hernandez and Aracelis Coriano; his sisters-in-law, Cynthia Coriano, Patricia Baez, Vanesa Hernandez, and Yesenia Hernandez; his brothers-in-law, John Pelham, Jimmy Scarboro, Frank Scarboro, and Alex Rosa; and many other in-laws as well.
His family will receive friends on Friday, May 5, 10-11 a.m., with a Celebration of Life, 11 a.m., at Crossroads Community Cathedral, 1492 Silver Lane, East Hartford.
Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford.
Juan's family would like to express their gratitude and thanks for the many kind expressions of sympathy shown during their time of bereavement, especially LAZ Parking and owner, Alan Lazowski, their Crossroads Cathedral family, and Carmon Funeral Home. They appreciate all the support and prayers that were offered on their behalf. May God bless you and keep you in his care.
