It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Juan Jose De Leon on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at the age of 77.
Born on October 27, 1948, in La Villa, Texas, he was a devoted husband to Ofelia Treviño De Leon and a loving father to Esmeralda De Leon-Salinas and Erika De Leon-Martinez. As a grandfather to Mia I. Salinas, Lia D. Salinas, Melynda Martinez, Maryssa Martinez, and Myranda Martinez, he had a special way of making each of them feel like they were the most important person in the world and they were the absolute joy and light of his life. He instilled in his family the importance of hard work, honesty and above all, love for your family and friends. His sons-in-law, Liborio A. Salinas, Jr. and Alberto Martinez, were welcome into his life and heart as the sons he never had. The love and respect he shared with his sons-in-law was a testament to his belief in the strength of family bonds.
He left his home at a very young age to help support his parents and family. He was an incredible son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was a hard-working man of humble beginnings that will be remembered for his generosity, integrity, kindness, and unconditional love for his family and friends. A man of immense strength and courage, he faced life's challenges with a steadfast spirit, and was always a source of wisdom and strength, a pillar of support to many through life's challenges. He had a way to make each person feel truly seen and cherished. He was a blessing in the lives of many as he was looked to as a source of comfort and support to anyone he was in contact with. He leaves behind a legacy of love and resilience that will live on through his surviving family and friends.
He was a proud veteran of the United States Army and was stationed in Germany while serving his country during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in 1973. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal; received the Marksman Marksmanship Badge (Rifle M-16); and was an Expert M79 Grenade Launcher.
