Juan Manuel "Meme" Torres Garza, age 55, of Hondo, Texas, lost his battle with cancer on Sunday, June 15, 2025. He was born on March 17, 1970, in Hereford, Texas. As Triple R Construction, Juan and Peggy Gibson, his wife and business partner, show-cased his construction skills as they would "revive, restore, and remodel" homes. Juan was a woodworking artist and excellent marksman, "Slingshot Johnny". He crafted old fashioned slingshots, hoping to entice today's youngsters to spend time outdoors learning the ancient skill. He is preceded in death by his parents Toby and Manuela B (Mela) Torres, and Esperanza Petra Ballesteros; sisters Lisa Scott and Leslie Veronica Ballesteros; and brother Frank B Torres. To his family he was "Meme". He is survived by his wife Peggy Gibson of Hondo, Texas; children, Manny Garza, Ema Lynnore Garza, Elijah Levi Garza, and Havyn Smith; sister Janie Flores and husband Jaime of Hale Center, Texas; brothers, Paul Torres and wife Kathryn of Georgia, Carlos (Charlie) Torres and wife Janie of Abilene, Texas, and Toby Torres and wife Liz of Hereford, Texas; siblings, Teresa Soto, Rafael Soto, Paula and Paul Soto, Samantha Soto, Carlos Antonio, and Dawn Denise Ballesteros; and numerous nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life Service for Juan Manuel "Meme" Torres Garza will be on Friday, June 27, 2025, at 10:00 A.M. at Good News Church in Hereford, Texas with Pastor David Alvarado officiating. Burial will follow at St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery in Hereford under the direction of Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home. The family will be gathered at 822 Baltimore Dr. in Hereford on Wednesday and Thursday.
