Ronald Vincent Barbutti, of Kerrville, Texas, formerly of Hondo, passed away on May 3, 2025, at the age of 91. He was born in Passaic, New Jersey on February 19, 1934 and will be remembered always by his wife of 38 years, Evelyne, sons Kenneth, Greg, and Phillip, his pride and joy, and their mother Brenda, sister Mary Ann Mayse (Bob), niece Sheri Noelke and daughter Jessica, cousins in various parts of the country and several grandnieces and grandnephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Patrick and Marie Barbutt, niece Karolyn Mayse, grandnephew John Hoffman and lifelong friends Marlin Smith and Loleta Barnhart. Ron grew up in San Angelo and entered college at an early age, graduating from Catholic University in Washington, D.C. with a Bachelor of Arts as well as University of Texas with a Bachelor of Architecture, with honors. As a youngster, he always loved airplanes and flying and he eventually lived his dream as an Air Force pilot prior to beginning his lifelong career as an architect. Ron was Chair of the River Development Advisory Council in San Angelo and Founding President of Historic San Angelo. Over the years, he garnered many awards for residences, churches and a Certificate of Merit for the Crockett County School. Ron was recognized for his detailed plans, knowledge of the industry, having integrity, fairness and honesty. His last remodel before retiring was Dziuk Meat Market in Castroville. While in Medina County he worked on many banks and residences, but his greatest professional reward was working pro-bono for churches and other non-profits. Ron served in various capacities on state and local boards of AIA, CSI, TSA, and Rotary International in San Angelo and Hondo. As a result of his Hondo Community Bank affiliation, he was recommended to remodel the offices of Medina Electric Cooperative, where he met Evelyne. A professional working relationship led to friendship and ultimately, marriage. While he loved racquetball, baseball and wrestling, Ron's favorite recreational activity was fly fishing. This was his true pleasure and one he greatly missed when he was no longer able to walk long distances. Ron loved traveling and enjoyed finding out-of-the-way places and roads which also brought interesting landscapes, wildlife and just fun and memorable occasions for him and Evelyne. Ron was also an exceptional artist who enjoyed painting. While he was not outwardly demonstrative of his faith, Ron had great love and faith in God. Ron was a good and honest man and made a difference in the lives of many. When he and Evelyne moved to Kerrville, they became faithful deliverers of Meals on Wheels and got to know many of the recipients. He will be greatly missed. While he had already survived three major illnesses during his life, he suffered much in recent months. We are grateful to Peterson (Palliative) Home Care and Hospice for their wonderful care as well as to Dr. David Peters, who was always there for us when we had concerns and questions. Ron will be remembered in Kerrville at a Celebration of Life held at Grimes Funeral Home at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, May 20. Visitation will be at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home in Castroville from 5-7 pm, also on May 20. His funeral service will be held at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 21 at noon, followed by burial at Ft. Sam National Cemetery at 2:00 pm.
