It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Juan Cardenas Perez, who departed this life on July 15, 2025, in
Modesto, California, at the age of 68. Born on August 21, 1956, in San Antonio, Texas, Juan was the beloved son of the late Alberto and Soledad Perez.
Juan lived a life rich in love, faith, and family. A proud father and devout Catholic, Juan carried his values with him in everything he did. His faith was the foundation of his life, and he lived it with integrity and compassion.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose greatest joy came from spending time with his grandchildren. They were the light of his life, and he never missed an opportunity to cheer them on, offer a word of encouragement, or simply be present with a warm smile and open heart.
Juan's passion for sports was unmatched. A lifelong baseball fan, he played for the Santana Softball Team in his younger years and remained an avid supporter throughout his life. He was a loyal season ticket holder for the Oakland A's, and never missed a game when the Dallas Cowboys or San Antonio Spurs were playing. Sports weren't just a pastime for Juan-they were a way to connect, to cheer, and to share unforgettable moments with his loved ones.
Professionally, Juan was a dedicated member of the Kaiser Permanente family, where he proudly served as a union member. He also gave back to his community through his involvement with the Fremont High School reunion committee, helping former classmates stay connected through the years.
Juan was a man who cherished the simple joys-watching a John Wayne western, spending time with family, or telling stories that made everyone laugh. His heart was big, his presence steady, and his love unwavering.
He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Shelly Perez; his step-mother, Eleanor Perez; his children, Juan Perez, Jr. (Angela), and Alissa Perez; his grandchildren, Colten Perez, Derek Perez, Reagan Perez, Olive Perez, Mariah Meyer, Dylan Meyer, and Juliet Meyer; and great-grandchild, Winter Miranda. He also leaves behind his siblings, Jimmy Perez, Hope Esperanza Cansino, Sylvia Perez, Gina Turner, and Gary Perez along with his nieces and nephews who he adored.
Juan was preceded in death by his parents, Alberto and Soledad Perez, and his brothers, Gilbert Perez, Morris Perez, and Albert Perez.
A visitation will be held on Monday, July 21st at Franklin & Downs Funeral Home in Modesto. Visitation begins at 10:30 a.m., followed by a Rosary at 11:30 a.m. and a funeral service at 12:00 p.m.
Juan's legacy of love, laughter, loyalty, and faith will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
