Juanita Bergara, 81, of Amarillo, Texas, passed away on Friday, June 13, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Funeral services are scheduled for 2pm, Monday, June 23, 2025, at LaGrone Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Martin Road Chapel. The family will receive friends for visitation on Monday from 12-2pm at the funeral home.
Juanita was born on August 1, 1943, to Jesus Bergara and Pomposa Figueroa in Zacatecas, Mexico. She married Santiago Sanchez in 1961 and together they shared 41 years of marriage. A devoted and loving mother, Juanita, was incredibly proud of her 12 children, each of whom she cherished deeply. Her unwavering faith in God was a cornerstone of her life—through even the most difficult times, including her long illness, she remained spiritually strong and steadfast. Juanita was known for her vibrant sense of humor and her joyful spirit. She had a gift for finding light in dark moments and could always bring a smile to those around her. She found great joy in singing church hymns, lifting her voice in praise with heartfelt devotion. A woman of simple pleasures. Her warmth, laughter, and enduring faith will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Juanita was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Santiago Sanchez and her sons-in-law, Gabriel Saavedra and Salvador Zaragoza.
Survivors left to cherish her memory are her children, Jose Sanchez and wife, Olivia, Demetrio Sanchez and wife, Palmira and Graciano Sanchez and wife, Juanis, Maria Sanchez and husband, Nicolas, Chuy Sanchez, Lilia Sanchez and husband, Abel, Betty Sanchez, Eunice Sanchez, Loida Sanchez and husband, Thomas, Zury Sanchez and husband, Omar, Marait Sanchez and husband, Mario and Yudith Sanchez and husband, Alfredo; her brother, Gregorio Bergara; her sister, Paz Bergara; 35 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 1 soon to be great-great grandson and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
