It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Juanita R. Lopez (neé Rodriguez), who peacefully departed this life on May 13, 2025, at the age of 89.
Juanita was born on May 17, 1935 in Rockdale, Illinois, to Benjamin & Guadalupe Rodriguez. She was a hard working and dedicated technician for Western Electric in Montgomery and retired after 25 years of service. She enjoyed dancing as exercise and singing to her favorite songs while making her famous tortillas or delicious chocolate chip zucchini cookies. She had no problem teaching individuals to sew or offering to hem clothes. If she wasn't at bingo you could catch her at the kitchen table beating any challenger at a game of Scrabble. She was like no other, a fierce and headstrong force to be reckoned with, who will be missed dearly.
She is survived by her children Anthony, Jacqueline and Joanna; and grandchildren Michael, Ysenia, Kasandra, Maritza, Luis, Destiny and Lennon; and great-grandchildren Alisa, D'Angelo and Daniella. She loved, and is loved by, many nieces and nephews, and cherished her strong bond with Bonnie Rodriguez.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Carlson Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home & Crematory, 2320 Black Road, Joliet, on Monday, May 19, 2025 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of Juanita, please visit our Tree Store.
