Juanita "Winnie" Sustaita Chavez, 25, life-long resident of Lubbock, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday, July 19, 2025, after her battle with cancer. Winnie had such a bright spirit, she could light any room she walked into. She was known for her ability to always make new friends wherever she went, she was funny, kind, loving, caring, and supportive. Lot of local business knew her personally because she was always rooting for everyone's success. Winnie married her sweetheart Matthew Chavez on July 2, 2018 and they began their life together.

Those left to cherish his memory are her husband, Matthew Chavez; son, Matthias Chavez; mother, Priscilla Lara; siblings, Daniela Salgado, Israel Gonzalez, III, Israel Gonzalez, Jr., Alicia Gonzalez, Madison Galindo; grandparents, Richard and Eloise Sustaita; nieces and nephews, Saphire, Jaramiah, and Jaliyah.

Winnie was preceded in death by her uncle, Ernest Sustaita.

Visitation will be held on Monday, August 4, 2025 from 9:00 a.m. ~ 11:00 a.m. with funeral service to begin at 11:00 a.m. at House of Angels Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at City of Lubbock Cemetery.
