Judith Boyd Allen, age 76, passed away peacefully at her home in Baltimore, Maryland on Tuesday, October 4, 2022. Judy grew up in Charlotte, NC and was predeceased by her parents Benjamin Boyd and Frances Boyd, sister Anne Berryhill, and husband Peter Allen.
She is survived by her son Richard M. Byrum, Jr., daughter in law Cynthia C. Byrum, grandchildren Chase Byrum and Erin Riley, great grandchildren Cara Belle Riley and Tradd Riley. She is also survived by nieces, whom she considered daughters, Leslie Taft, Laurie Clary and brother in law Stuart Berryhill.
Early in life Judy married Richard Byrum, Sr.. Although the marriage did not work out, she believed he was a good father and gave her the perfect son. Judy always wanted a daughter and felt Marty gave her one when marrying Cindy.
Judy studied business at Trinity College and received a Masters degree from Johns Hopkins University. Before retiring, she worked for the Department of Agriculture, and rose to the level of Branch Chief. She enjoyed her work, which gave her the ability to travel and explore the world. Judy looked for the "Joie de Vivre" in every day, having great times with her good friend of many years, Ingrid Roberts. Judy believed "life begins on the edge of your comfort zone" and strived to live this way.
Judy did not wish for a traditional funeral but will be placed to rest next to her loving husband, Pete. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to St Jude's or a charity of your choice.
