In Loving Memory of Judith McDonald Barnes

April 15, 1941 – July 10, 2025

Judith McDonald Barnes, born in Nashville, Tennessee, peacefully passed away on July 10, 2025, leaving behind a legacy marked by elegance, intellect, and unwavering compassion. The beloved daughter of Ray Paul McDonald and Aubrey McDonald Brenneman, Judith’s early years were shaped by curiosity and kindness—qualities that guided her through a life of extraordinary purpose.

In her youth, Judy exhibited Tennessee Walking Horses at Solitude Farm in Goodlettsville, Tennessee. She later moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma, where she attended Holland Hall, an all-girls high school that nurtured her love of learning and introduced her to friendships that lasted a lifetime.

Her academic path led her to Duke University and George Washington University, setting the stage for a pioneering career in the beauty and wellness industry. In 1963, she joined Fashion 220 Cosmetics in Aurora, Ohio, where she served as Vice President of Product Development and Treasurer until 1975. Known for her innovative work in packaging and fragrance, she earned accolades and solidified her reputation as a visionary.

Beyond her company, Judy served on national boards for the Direct Selling Association and was recognized by the International Biographical Centre of Business Achievement in Cambridge, England, from 1975 to 1985. In 1975, she became part-owner and President of Aubrey Creations in Akron, Ohio, and later served with distinction as Executive Vice President of Park Lane in Schaumburg, Illinois. For over forty years, she led Judith Bartonne Skin Care, a business that reflected both her scientific insight and her deep commitment to helping people feel empowered and confident. She mentored thousands in motivational strategies and sales techniques, sharing her voice at hundreds of conventions and seminars across the country.

Judy’s dedication extended deeply into her community. At the University of Akron, she served on the advisory committee for the H. Kenneth Barker Center for Economic Education, helping young people discover their gifts and nurture passions in business and the arts. Through the Akron Summit Community Action Agency, she supported programs like Head Start, Foster Grandparents, and YouthBuild. She co-hosted more than thirty luncheons to unite local business and educational leaders and advocate for children’s wellbeing and futures.

She was a devoted member of Bath United Church of Christ for more than forty years, sitting in her regular pew each Sunday, soaking in the message and the fellowship of her beloved church family.

Judy was preceded in death by her loving husband, Duane Barnes, her mother, Aubrey McDonald Brenneman, her stepfather, Judge Myron Brenneman, and her father, Paul Ray McDonald.

She is survived by her son Evan (Kelly) Barnes; stepsons, David (Janis) Barnes and Donald (Debbie) Barnes; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and her cherished cousin, Everette Conn Stewart Sr.

Visitation will be held on SATURDAY, July 26, 2025, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m. and a luncheon to honor and celebrate her remarkable life. Services will take place at Bath United Church of Christ, 3980 W. Bath Rd., Akron, OH 44333.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Firestone High School Instrumental Music Association, supporting the arts Judy so deeply cherished. FHSIMA, 470 Castle BLVD, Akron, OH 44333 VENMO @fhsima Paypal [email protected]
