Judith Lynn Brooks, age 83, of Palestine passed away on Sunday, August 3, 2025, at her home surrounded by her loving children and grandchildren. She was born in Gourd, Arkansas on August 22, 1941, to Floyd Cecil Turner and Jessie Snellgrove Turner.
Services for Judy will be held on Sunday, August 10, 2025, at Herrington / Land of Memory Funeral Home in Palestine beginning with a visitation from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 3:00 p.m. with Bro. John Smith officiating. The burial will be at Roselawn Park Cemetery.
Judith grew up in Oakwood, Texas. She graduated from Oakwood ISD in 1960 and on November 24,1961, she got married to Huey James Brooks. Their marriage lasted 36 years before Huey lost his life to cancer in 1997. Judy loved to fish, work in the yard, travel with her siblings, and spend time with her children and grandkids. She was a correctional officer for 18 years before retiring. She loved the Lord and was a faithful member of Grace and Truth Tabernacle and Holy Ground Worship Center.
She was preceded in death by her husband; mother and father; son in law, Lonnie C. Harcrow; sisters, Mary Elizabeth Turner Knox, and Martha Jean Turner Banks; brothers, Donald Wayne, Sammy Ray, David Nathan, and Marcus Lee Turner.
Judy is survived by her faithful dog Baby; sister, Patsy Turner Wolbert and husband Terry of Oklahoma; brothers, Jerry Don Turner, and Jimmy Dale Turner and wife Carol of Palestine; her 3 children, Lori L Brooks Martin, Rhonda R Brooks Harcrow, and Michael David Brooks and wife Terry Lynn all of Palestine; grandchildren, Courtney D Manning and husband Eddie of Ohio, Cody L Brooks, of Palestine, Cale R Brooks and wife Kimberly of Saginaw, Leslie M. Collins and husband Justin of Palestine, Joseph L. Martin and wife Shelly of Palestine, Brendan C. Harcrow of Bryan, Elizabeth Jo Martin of Palestine; great-grandchildren, Delaney D. Manning and Preston B. Manning both of Ohio, and Tayden R., Hudson J., and Mason R. Collins of Palestine; as well as many nieces and nephews.
