It is with deep sadness and love that we announce the passing of Randy Marshal Brown, age 73, of Palestine/Rusk. He passed away on Thursday, October 2, 2025. He was born in Longview, Texas on June 11, 1952, to parents George Edward Brown and Margaret Oneal Brown.

Randy attended Westwood High School and later earned his GED. He went on to work as a railroad conductor, a career he was proud of until his retirement. In his younger years, Randy loved spending time outdoors-fishing and hunting were among his favorite pastimes. In retirement, he found joy in making regular trips to the casino, enjoying a few visits each month.

Randy was known for his generous spirit and willingness to help others. One of his proudest achievements was his 42 years of sobriety. A devoted member of Alcoholics Anonymous, Randy celebrated his sobriety anniversary with more enthusiasm than his birthday. He served as a sponsor to many, offering support, guidance, and hope to those on their own paths to recovery. His legacy of compassion and strength lives on through the lives he touched.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Margaret Brown; son, Chad Brown; brothers, Curtis Brown, Ricky Brown and Sammy Brown; and sister, Jeanie Goode. Randy is survived by his brothers, Michael Brown, Ted Turman, and Mark Brown; as well as 3 grandchildren, Loran Brown, Jacob Brown, and Avery Brown.

Graveside services will be held Monday, October 6, 2025, at 1pm at Land of Memory Cemetery in Palestine, TX. Services are in care of Herrington / Land of Memory Funeral Home.
