COOKEVILLE CHAPEL - Judith Anne Dudney Chambers, affectionately known as Judy, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at her home in Cookeville, Tennessee. Born on November 1, 1947, in Gainesboro, TN, Judy lived a life filled with dedication, love, and creative pursuits.
Judy's educational pursuits started at Cumberland University and later culminated with a Bachelor's degree from Middle Tennessee State University and a Master's degree from Tennessee Tech University, marking her as a woman who valued knowledge and personal growth.
Judy's career began in education as a beloved teacher within the Jackson County School System, where she inspired countless students with her passion for learning. She later lent her talents to the Jackson Bank and Trust before concluding her professional journey at the Old Gainesboro Road Utility District. Her commitment to her work was matched only by her commitment to her community, which she served with grace and diligence.
An avid lover of puzzles and painting, Judy fostered a deep appreciation for creativity that inspired those around her. She was a proud member of the Sycamore Church of Christ and previously a member of the Freestate Church of Christ, where she made lasting connections with her community.
Judy is survived by her daughter, Cyndi, and son-in-law, Michael Thompson, as well as her beloved grandcat, Ashes. She is also remembered fondly by her Aunt Marie Hershburger and a host of cousins and friends who cherished her warmth and kindness.
She was predeceased by her parents, Frank and Mary Lena Dudney; her husband, Tim Chambers; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Sam and Pat Chambers; and her brother-in-law, Roger Chambers. Their memories remain alive in the hearts of those who knew Judy, forever connected through the love and life they shared.
A funeral service honoring Judy will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 16 at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home, Visitation for friends and family will be Saturday from 5 - 8 p.m. and again Sunday from 12 - 2 p.m. Judy will be laid to rest at Cookeville City Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Daniel, Jim Perry, Randy Thompson, Paul Meadows, Gary Jett, Frankie Milton, Wayne Moss, Herby Wheeler, Jerry Wilson, Barry Daniel, and Steven Holman. Active pallbearers are Russell Wilson, Will Pigg, Elijah Anderson, James Crider, Robin Meadows, Jerome Kline, Don Fox, Jack Daniel, David Wilmore, and Corey Meadows.
Her legacy of love, teaching, and creativity will continue to inspire those fortunate enough to have known her.
