Judith Faye King, known to all simply as Judy, age 80, passed peacefully on Wednesday evening, August 20, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family at Baptist Health in Lexington, Kentucky.
Born on January 26, 1945, in Scott County, she was the daughter of the late Clarence Tadlock and Carrie Risen Tadlock. A lifelong Scott County resident, Judy grew up with her four sisters in the tight-knit communities of Oxford and Muddy Ford, graduating from Scott County High School before building a life defined by love, service, and devotion to others.
In her early years of raising her children, Judy's path crossed with that of Joseph "Joe" Leslie King. Both already parents, they built a blended family rooted in faith, laughter, and unconditional love. For 43 years, until Joe's passing in 2014, they raised their children side by side in Georgetown, creating a home where everyone-family, neighbors, friends-was welcome and cared for. Judy's kindness knew no bounds. She tended not only to her children but also to her mother and mother-in-law, embodying generosity in every season of her life.
Her hard work and dedication extended beyond the walls of her home. Judy first served as housekeeping supervisor at Springhaven Nursing Home, later creating her own residential and commercial cleaning business, where her diligence and integrity earned the respect of her clients. She also spent cherished years working alongside family and friends at Long John Silver's, Walmart, and the Salvation Army. No matter the job, Judy poured her heart into it with a smile, building relationships that lasted a lifetime.
But above all else, Judy's greatest pride was her family. She adored being "Nana" and "Grandma," titles she wore with joy as her circle of grandchildren and great-grandchildren grew. To them, and to everyone who knew her, she was a steady presence-a caretaker, a confidante, a cheerleader, and a quiet source of strength.
Judy will be lovingly remembered by her children, Carrie (Scott) Johnson, Mike (Becky) Inman, Johnny King, and Sue Haney; her grandchildren, Todd, Jared, Kaitlyn, Michael, Shawn, Joey, Brandon, Alex, and Heather; her sisters, Mary Jo (Andy) Young, Joyce Ann Whitlock, and Janice Darnaby; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews who will carry forward her legacy of kindness.
She is reunited in heaven with her beloved Joe; her parents; her daughters, Sharon Kaye Watts and Betty Hacker; and her sister, Jackie Sefcovic.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 27, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Tucker, Yocum & Wilson Funeral Home. A private graveside service will follow at a later date.
Those who wish to honor Judy's memory are encouraged to share condolences and stories on her tribute wall at www.TuckerYocumWilson.com.
Judy's life was a testament to the power of quiet devotion-raising children, caring for others, working with purpose, and loving with her whole heart. To know her was to be blessed by her generosity, her laughter, and her unwavering spirit. She leaves behind a family knit together by her love and a legacy that will live on in the lives she touched.
