Judith Ann "Judy" Kirchmeier, age 79, of Shakopee, Minnesota, passed away at her home on Sunday, June 1, 2025, with her husband Barry at her side.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, 11:00 AM, at the Parish of Saints Joachim and Anne, Church of St. Mary of the Purification, 15850 Marystown Rd, Shakopee.
Visitation will be one hour prior to Mass at the church.
Interment will be at a later date, and a reception will follow the service in the church fellowship hall.
Judy was born in Northeast Minneapolis, Minnesota, on February 16, 1946, the daughter of Stanley and Jeanette (Stimart) High. She was raised in the "Nord-East" and attended Catholic parochial schools and was a graduate of Edison High School. She loved the area and often spoke of her fond memories from that time in her life.
She attended vocational school, taking training as a switchboard operator. In 1967, she met the love of her life while attending a Christian event. Judy and Barry Kirchmeier were united in marriage on May 30, 1968, and just celebrated their 57th anniversary.
They began their lives in South Minneapolis, residing there while Barry completed his studies at the U of M in education. They then moved to Michigan, where Barry took his first job. In 1972, they came back to Minnesota and settled in Shakopee and have made the area their home ever since.
Judy was a social butterfly and so enjoyed time spent chatting with family and friends on the telephone. She had a tight group of 7 friends from her days in Nord-East, and they stayed close throughout her life. Judy enjoyed time spent playing cards, traveling, going on cruises, and the holiday seasons. She was a devout Catholic all her life. More than anything, she cherished time spent with her family, especially the grandchildren. She was a devoted wife and mother, a doting grandmom, and an all-around lovely person.
Judy is survived by her husband of 57 years, Barry; her children, Brian (Debbie) Kirchmeier, Jennifer (David) Hentges, Rebecca (Armand Khan) Wheelock; her grandchildren, Brent Kirchmeier, Andra Kirchmeier, Abby Kirchmeier, Deven (Emily Knutson) Wheelock and Conner Wheelock; her brother Clark (Wyleen) High. Nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
Judy was predeceased by her parents, Stanley and Jeanette High.
