Judith A. Nelson

Judith Ann Nelson, 82, of Edgerton WI, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday November 9, 2025, following a lengthy battle with health issues. She was born April 24, 1943, in Janesville WI, and from her parents Dorothy (Arnold) and Nestor Gilbertson, learned the value of hard work at a young age. Growing up in rural Rock County, "Judi" attended Edgerton schools, including the one room Eagle School, and graduated from Edgerton High School in 1961. On July 29, 1961, she married the love of her life, Roger Nelson of Edgerton, at East Koshkonong Lutheran Church and they were able to celebrate 54 years of marriage together. Together they raised three children and enjoyed "going up north" to a little hunting trailer and in later years to visit the "UP" of Michigan to spend time with their grandchildren. Judi had a great appreciation for nature and being outside in the yard and garden or watching the birds in the feeder. Her love of trees, wildflowers, rocks and gardening are very evident in the yard she built out of an old hayfield and that became her pride and joy. Judi was a stay-at-home Mom while her children were young but also worked at Nunn-Bush Shoes in Edgerton and LeMans Corporation in Janesville, WI in addition to spending many hours on the farm working in the tobacco fields throughout the years. Judi is survived by her son Troy (Connie) of Munising, MI and daughter Tara of Edgerton, WI. She will be sorely missed by her granddaughter Lauren Nelson and twin grandsons Connor and Jack Nelson of Munising MI. Judi is further survived by her brother Richard (Ellen) Gilbertson of Edgerton and their children Curt (Sam) Gilbertson and Stacy (Dan) Cowden, brother-in-law Jon Nelson, sister-in-law Karleen Nelson and niece Jenelle Nelson, along with additional cousins and extended family members. Judi was preceded in death by her husband Roger in 2016 and son Tony in 2023. Funeral services will be held at 1 PM on November 17, 2025 at the Albrecht Funeral Homes, Edgerton. Burial will follow at Jenson Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday at the funeral home from 11AM until the start of services.
