Judith Plumb Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Kevin Brennan Family Funeral Home on Jan. 8, 2025.
Judith Ann Plumb passed away peacefully in her home at Oak Creek Senior Living on January 4, 2025. Judy was born on August 17, 1940, in Topeka KS to her parents, Bernard 'Bud' and Muriel 'Blondie' Hargis. She grew up loving all animals, especially her favorite horse, Brownie. She found a life-long love of music through joining the band and learning how to play the clarinet at a young age.
Judy married John Plumb in 1966, and had their only son, David 'Bart' Plumb soon thereafter. She spent her adult years working as a secretary for various businesses, finishing her career as an auto claims adjuster for State Farm Insurance.
Judy's love of animals continued as she had many dogs, cats, and horses throughout her life until her last best fur friend, Gypsy.
A long-time member of the Church of Latter-Day Saints, we are grateful for their support and love shown to mom over the years.
Judy spent her last years at Oak Creek Senior Living where she loved to sit on the patio in the sun and visit with friends.
Judy is survived by her beloved son, David 'Bart' Plumb and wife, Alyssa of Katy TX; her ex-husband and life-long friend, John Plumb of Topeka; brother, Robert 'Bob' Hargis and his wife, Cathy of Overland Park KS; and many cherished nieces and nephews.
There will not be a service per her wishes, and in lieu of flowers, please direct any gifts to The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), Washburn University Music Department, or the American Heart Association and sent in care of Kevin Brennan Family Funeral Home, 2801 SW Urish Road, Topeka KS 66614.

I didn´t know Judith but I know she must have been an amazing woman as she raised an amazing man in Bart.
My condolences.

Bart and I have been friends for many years, and I came to know Judy and John through him. They opened their home to me and I've never forgotten their kindness. Whether it was playing in bands with Judy & Bart (with John often in the audience), or the Colonel taking Bart & me flying in a little Cessna, it was always good to spend time with the Plumbs. I hope the memories of Judy that we share provide some comfort to John & Bart.

We remember Judy very fondly. When she came up to Seneca to inspect vehicles for us, she was always professional and lots of fun! One time, she told me she had such an infinity for animals, she was sure she was a dog in a former life! You can be proud of your momma, she was one of the good ones.

Bart & Family, your mom was one of a kind. I treasure all the talks, laughs, cries and being silly with her. She always said her, and I were twins. She even cut her hair like mine. I love spending time with her at Oak Creek Senior Living. I will never forget her sweet soul and she gave out the best hugs. Sending you lots of love, prayers and hugs.
