Beloved mother, sister and "mumsy," Judith Anne Reihner, tragically passed away in her sleep during the early morning hours of June 7, 2024. She was surrounded by family in San Diego, California. She was 66 years old.
Born Judith Anne Wickersham in Harrisburg, Pa. to the late Honorable Richard B. and Joanne N. Wickersham on Sept. 2, 1957. Judith graduated from Central Dauphin High School before attending the Pennsylvania State University. She graduated with distinction from Penn State in 1984 with a degree in social and behavioral sciences.
Judith's journey took her to Houston and Philadelphia before making her home in Scranton, Pa. Along the way Judith established herself as a terrific manager in the early childhood care and education space. She was the regional manager for Rocking Horse Child Care Centers, district manager for Discovery Zone Funcenters and, finally, director of admissions at the Wyoming Seminary Lower School. She'd later retire to Laguna Niguel, Calif. where she enjoyed the warm weather, traveling and spending time with her family.
Judith was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, George A. Reihner, Esq. (PSU '77), who passed away on March 11, 2021. She leaves behind a loving and devoted family, including her eldest son, Capt. George A. Reihner (USMA '02, director of operations, Beckman Coulter Global Operations, Carlsbad, Calif.) and his wife, Mary; her daughter, First Lt. Janet L. Reihner (USMA '04, senior director, operational excellence at Hospital for Special Surgery, New York City); her middle son, Kevin A. Reihner (Stanford '14, tight ends coach, Troy University, Troy, Ala.) and his wife, JoAnna; her youngest son, Kyle T. Reihner (Robert Morris '24, digital sales representative, ADP, Coraopolis, Pa.); her brother, Richard B. "Bruce" Wickersham Jr., Esq.; and her sister, Elizabeth W. Burrus; and many nieces and nephews. "Mumsy" also leaves behind four grandchildren, Cameron and Graham Schoepfer, and twins, Oliver and McKinley Reihner who brought her immense joy. Her kind heart, infectious smile and unwavering love for her family will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
A public celebration of Judith's life will take place at Elm Park United Methodist Church in Scranton, Pa., on June 17, 2024. Greeting the family will begin at 1 p.m., with a memorial ceremony to celebrate Judith's life and legacy will follow at 2 p.m.
Interment alongside her late husband will take place in Washington, Pa. on June 19, 2024.
