Judith S. (Carter) Rocha, 88 of Gloucester, died on Sunday, January 25th. Born in Gloucester on December 23, 1937, she was the daughter to the late Herman and Dorothy Carter and beloved wife to the late Manuel P. Rocha. Sr.

Judy is known for being a strong woman of faith. She had a deep devotion and love for her Catholic upbringing. She especially loved participating in the Portuguese Crownings at Our Lady Of Good Voyage Church, a tradition that brought her great joy. One of her proudest achievements was beginning the Special Needs dances at the Gloucester Fraternity Club with her husband, Manuel over 50 years ago. She also enjoyed spending time with her friends at various lunch spots throughout the area. Throughout all of her life's interests, her true passion was always adoring over and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Judy is survived by her children, Manuel P. Rocha, Jr., Diane Legendre, and Ronda Tucker and her husband, Russell, her grandchildren, Ronell Crocker and her husband, Brian, Russell Tucker and his wife, Beth, and Olivia Legendre, and her 5 great-grandchildren, Noah and Jacob Crocker, and Samantha, Vanessa, and Malia Tucker. She is also survived by her sister, Francine Dench and her husband, Phil. She also had many nieces and nephews who were very dear to her.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is predeceased by her siblings, Richard Carter, Phyllis O'Hanley, and Jean Randazza as well as her dear, life-long friend, Hazel Ellis.

Her family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to Dr. Thomas Pearce for the compassionate care, advice and support throughout the years.

Her funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Good Voyage Church, 142 Prospect Street, Gloucester, on Thursday, February 5th at 11am. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting Hour prior to the Mass at the church from 10am to 11am. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Gloucester. I am so sorry for your family´s loss. I have fond childhood memories and as an adult at the Fraternity Club. Many Crownings and Auxiliary meetings and she was always smiling or laughing. Prayers for all of you for comfort in knowing she is at peace. Susan Gamradt Beal
