Judith "Judy" Ann Schnyder, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 7, 2025, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, at the age of 78.
Judy was born on September 20, 1947, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to the late Reynold J. Schnyder, Sr. and the late Ethel Bernadette Lefore. She grew up in New Roads, LA, and after high school, made New Orleans her home until relocating to Baton Rouge following Hurricane Katrina.
Judy was a proud and dedicated employee of BellSouth, where she worked for many years as an operator and sales representative before retiring. She was known for her strong work ethic, bright personality, and unwavering sense of integrity.
A woman of many passions, Judy especially loved traveling, music, and photography. Her adventurous spirit led her on road trips all over the country. Judy became a self-taught computer wiz when she discovered she could download music and create custom CDs-something she enjoyed sharing with family and friends. Her camera was always by her side, and she captured countless moments with family and friends over the years. She often reminded her loved ones, "People never want to take pictures, but they always ask for them when someone passes."
Judy had a witty sense of humor and a vibrant personality that brought smiles to everyone she met. She made friends wherever she went, embracing all people, regardless of social status or race. Judy was respected for her authenticity and admired for her frankness-she spoke the truth with love and sincerity. She encouraged everyone to be true to themselves and to live life with joy and confidence. Her legacy will be cherished forever.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Michael Schnyder; her sister, Cutuchea Schnyder; and her brothers Joseph Cole, Michael Lefore, Reynold J. Schnyder, Jr., Harold Schnyder, and Donald Schnyder.
She is survived by her children, Ronald Bailey, Sr. (Latrece) and Michelle Lavern (Randall); and her beloved grandchildren, Joshua Crawford, Ronald Bailey, Jr., and Michael Martin.
Judy also leaves behind a large family of siblings: Rosemary Cole, Katherine Cross, Annette Gray, Mary Amar, Clayton Schnyder, Sr., Yolanda McCollough, Sedgie Gomes, Tangee Jackson, Ingrid Schnyder, Tiffany Monier, Yvette Scioneaux, Victoria Taylor, Kevin Schnyder, Kirk Schnyder, Keith Schnyder, Remy Schnyder, Demetrius Schnyder, Sean Schnyder, and Victor Schnyder.
Judy will be remembered for her warmth, her heartfelt advice, her vibrant personality, and her ability to make everyone feel seen and valued. She led by example and always strived to do what was right. She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Judy's memory to The Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration at theaftd.org.
