Judy Long Bauknight, a native South Carolinian and longtime resident of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, passed away at her home on Saturday, February 22, 2025.
Judy was born on June 24, 1953, in Rock Hill, South Carolina, to Robert L "Bob" Long and Frances Stricker. She graduated from Myrtle Beach High School and the University of South Carolina (USC). After graduation from USC, Judy moved to Murrells Inlet where she made many lifelong friends at Sunnyside and Side Porch. She was an active participant in MISC, according to Ray Cooper! She later moved to St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands, where she met and married the love of her life, Charlie Bauknight.
Judy was an avid animal lover and advocate, throughout her life. Together, she and her husband Charlie opened Pet Galley which they owned and operated and where they had the pleasure of meeting kindred spirit animal lovers and their beloved pets, and making even more lifelong friends.
Judy is preceded in death by her father Bob, her mother Frances, and her sister Ann. She is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Charlie and their beloved dogs, Black Bart and Sam-I-Am, her Bauknight family including Sue Bauknight, Allyce Bauknight, Alma Ceballos, Joni and Ron Vosburg, Lucy and Robert Oberholtzer, Hugo Bauknight, Chelsey, Matt and Maple Gusse, Chad Vosburg, and Luke Oberholtzer.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the St. Francis Humane Society of Georgetown, South Carolina, or your favorite pet shelter or adoption center.
