Judy Chance Obituary

Judy Kay Chance, affectionately known as Judy, completed her earthly journey and entered eternal rest on October 31, 2025. Judy was a beacon of light and joy to all who knew her, having been born into this world on March 27, 1948, in the city of Chattanooga, TN, where she also drew her last breath, surrounded by the love of her family.

Judy lived a life characterized by devotion to her family, her faith, and her community. She was a cherished daughter to the late James R. Farmer, Sr. and Elsie Louise Bell Farmer. Her loving spirit now joins her sister, Nancy Farmer and brother, James Farmer, Jr. in the heavenly abode, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and kindness.

Judy's life was enriched by the love and laughter of her children, Tammy Brown (Jack) and Troy Slatton (Lori), who remember her as a guiding light and a source of unwavering support. Her sister, Glenda McKaig, along with her adored grandson, Dylan Brown, and several treasured nieces and nephews, will carry forward Judy's lessons of compassion and creativity.

For over 30 years, Judy served with dedication at the Hickory Valley Retirement Center, where her nurturing presence was a comfort to many. Her commitment to her work was surpassed only by her commitment to her faith. An active member of Brainerd Hills Baptist Church, Judy's Christian beliefs were the cornerstone of her existence, guiding her actions and intentions throughout her life.

Judy's passion extended to the beauty of the natural world; she found solace and joy in tending to her garden, nurturing her flowers, and taking pride in her yard. Her artistic soul was also evident in her love for ceramics, a craft through which she expressed her creativity and meticulous attention to detail.

Those who knew Judy would describe her as loving, creative, and faith-filled.

Judy's journey on earth may have concluded, but her spirit and the love she shared will continue to resonate with all who had the privilege of knowing her. As we bid farewell to Judy Kay Chance, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and a soul eternally cherished.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at 1:00 P.M. at the Coulter Chapel of the Lane Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Chattanooga Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends on Monday November 3, 2025, from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the Coulter Chapel of the Lane Funeral Home.
