Judy Letcher Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Crown Cremation Services - Salem on Feb. 16, 2026.
Judy C. Letcher passed away on January 11, 2026, at Salem Hospital in Salem, Oregon, with her daughter by her side. Judy was born in 1943 and was the oldest of two girls. She was an avid reader and loved gardening, crafting, trying new recipes, and enjoying good food and company. She loved garage saling and spending time with her husband, Doug, and her best friend. She especially enjoyed making beautiful flower arrangements.

Judy grew up in St. Petersburg, Florida, and graduated from Young Harris College in Young Harris, Georgia. After College, she worked for the federal government and was sent to work overseas. She met Doug in Beirut, Lebanon, and they were married in a small ceremony with friends. When they returned to the United States after the 6-Day War, they resided in Arizona, where Doug was stationed. Judy had a long career as a legal secretary working for several Denver and Atlanta law firms, and eventually, she spent several years working for Mohave County in Kingman, Arizona.

Judy had the best sense of humor and enjoyed laughing at silly things with her husband and daughter. She enjoyed traveling, antiquing, and helping Doug refinish their antiques to furnish their home. She also enjoyed finding great restaurants during their travels and loved sharing her meal stories with her friends and family. She collected recipes and enjoyed making new things, and helped Doug make new things when she was no longer able to stand in the kitchen. Judy and Doug's house was full of handmade items that her small family enjoyed making together.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 57 years, Doug Letcher. She is survived by her daughter, Kara Letcher, sister, and nieces. She was a light in the lives of her family, and they miss her deeply.

In lieu of flowers for the family, please think about visiting someone you know or someone who might like a visit at your local nursing home or assisted living facility. Please hug your family tight and tell them how much they mean to you. If you have wonderful memories of Judy, please share them here and in letters to her daughter, Kara.
