Judy Rich Rust

Judy Rich Rust, age 76, of Henderson, KY, passed away on Tuesday, February 7, 2023, at Colonial Assisted Senior Living under the care of St. Anthony's Hospice.
Mrs. Rust was preceded in death by her husband Gary Stephen Rust, parents, James (Spider) Q. Rich and Joetta Fries.
After graduating from Henderson County High in 1964, Judy worked at Bellsouth Telephone Co., then attended Western Kentucky University and Henderson Community College, where she earned her degree in Nursing. She furthered her schooling by receiving several certifications in the area of Nursing and Hospital Case Management. Judy enjoyed a fulfilling career doing what she loved, helping people. She worked as the Nurse manager for the Henderson Methodist hospital general medical floor, medical intensive care and step-down recovery unit. Judy was the first director of a specialized discharge planning program; which served as the first pilot program in Western, KY. This case management program became permanent in 1986, under the direction of the medical staff at Henderson Methodist Hospital. Judy retired as the Director of Case management. She received accolades such as Nursing Administrator of the year district award, lifetime worker award, and served as one of the first ten founding members of the Board of directors for the St. Anthony's Hospice of Henderson. After retiring from her career in nursing, she enjoyed gardening, shopping, church and her family. Judy loved her family and God above all else.
Survivors include son Stephen Rust and his wife Allison of Henderson, KY; daughter Stephanie Elliott and her husband Brian of Bowling Green, KY; siblings: Marsha Adams, Jennifer Melton, and James Q. Rich Jr., all of Henderson KY; 4 grandchildren: Brian David and Autumn Elliott of Bowling Green, KY, and Zach and Jake Rust of Henderson, KY. Judy had several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to Judy's Life Celebration from 11:00 a.m. until the service time on Saturday, February 11, 2023, at Benton-Glunt & Tapp Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Henderson, KY.
