Julene A. Eilers, age 79, of Chillicothe, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, March 25, 2025.
She was born on February 9, 1946, in Toluca, IL, to Harry Allen and Carmella (Pozzi) McKittrick. In 1966, she married Donald Otto Eilers, and together they had two daughters.
Julene is survived by her daughters, Alice (Kurt) Eilers-Guttensohn of Bartlett, TN, and Cindy (Jeff Scroggs) Eilers of Winter Haven, FL; her grandchildren, Desiree (Justyn Reifsteck) Eilers of Chillicothe, IL, and Luke Anthony Eilers of Lacon, IL; and her great-granddaughter, Alyson Reifsteck. She is also survived by many cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents.
One of Julene's greatest joys in life was spending time with her family and friends. Whether with the Pozzi, McKittrick, or Eilers families, her daughters, grandchildren, great-granddaughter, or her dear friends, she cherished every moment, always ensuring they knew how deeply they were loved. She had a special way of making each person feel valued and supported, offering an endless supply of love and kindness. Whether celebrating milestones or simply sharing everyday moments, Julene's warmth and infectious smile brought a sense of connection and joy. The deep bond she nurtured will continue to be treasured by all and passed down through family generations.
A devout Catholic, Julene was a dedicated member of St. Edward Catholic Church in Chillicothe. She served as the school secretary for a time and worked at Lagron-Miller in Peoria for over 40 years. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life, and she was deeply committed to supporting her church and clergy. With warmth and kindness, she especially cherished assisting "her Priests", ensuring they found all they needed when they visited Lagron-Miller. Julene had a deep reverence for the traditions of her Faith and took great joy in helping others deepen their own faith. During her years at Lagron-Miller, her generosity, guidance, and encouragement extended to all, building lifelong friendships. Julene will not only be missed but will leave a lasting impact on all who knew her.
Services will be held on Friday, April 4, 2025 at 11am at St. Edward Catholic Church in Chillicothe. Burial will follow at St. Ann Catholic Cemetery in Toluca. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 3, 2025 from 5pm to 7pm at the church with recitation if the Rosary at 4:30pm. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to Mass at the church on Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her name to St. Edward Catholic Church and School. Arrangements are under the care of Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe.
