She previously lived in Taylorsville, Utah for about 40 years. She moved there in 1981. Prior to that she and her husband lived in the Ogden, Utah area for more Than 20 years.

Her husband, Wayne J Ashby preceded her in death October 14, 2004. They were married January 19,1949 in the Manti Temple.

She is preceded in death by two sisters and an infant brother, Arla DeMars, June Nielson Ashton and Andrew Christian Nielson.

A descendant of pioneer ancestry and a life-long member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints, Jennette served in many various callings in the Church throughout her life. She served nearly two years as secretary to two mission presidents of the Minnesota Minneapolis Mission (1986-1988). She served as a Church service missionary at the Church History Library for five years. For many years she did Extraction and Indexing of records.

Her interests were centered around being a mother, grandmother and great grandmother and keeping in touch as much as possible. She enjoyed: homemaking, cooking, genealogy/family history, cake decorating, gardening, sewing, quilt making, needlepoint, embroidering, knitting, crocheting, card making and scrapbooking.

She considered her most notable accomplishments as the compiling and publishing of three books--biographies of her mother, her father, and of her husband. She also compiled six short biographies of pioneer ancestors.

While she enjoyed beautiful flowers, she felt it would be appropriate to consider donating to a humanitarian charity of your choice in her memory, in lieu of flowers.

Janette was my good friend and neighbor. We had been friends for over 31 years. She would have me over for dinner with the missionaries and then we would play cards. Sometimes we would watch a video. She always had a kind word and a big smile, and an even bigger heart.
