I just came from the cemetery where Julia´s maternal grandparents are buried.
Julia made two trips from California to New Hampshire within a few months to visit him and then attend his funeral
He was so proud of all her many accomplishments.
He would have been inconsolable had he been living when she died.
A beautiful, kind, woman loved by all who knew her.

I just heard the terrible news about Julia. Julia was a great friend in high school. We connected through the music program in school and I was always in awe of her gentle kindness and desire to better the world, whether it be through her music and art, acts of kindness or her environmental work. I loved to see her laugh! She will be so missed. Thinking of Alice and Mr. and Mrs. Elkin.

Julia was such a joyful person to be around. She was one of the first people to welcome me to the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, as I was a young intern. She and Melissa showed me around Clagett Farm, had fun picnics in Annapolis and always had a great time at the Watershed Forum. I will always remember her quirky clothes, fun smile, flute playing and laughter.

Beautiful, brilliant, multitalented, compassionate.
Her spirit is both palpable and rare. Everyone who ever knew her will agree there is no one who compares to Julia
