Mrs. Julia Ann Farrow

"I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:

Mrs. Julia Ann Rodgers Farrow entered into her eternal rest, Saturday, August 16, 2025, at the Riverside Health and Rehabilitation Center in Danville, Virginia.

"Mrs. Julia" as she was affectionately called was the daughter of the late Otis Mack Rodgers and Nora Irby Rodgers. She was raised by her bonus mother, the late Mildred T. Rodgers. She was employed in Brooklyn, New York as the Bank Manager at Citibank. She later attended the Allen School for Physicians Aids and received her Nursing Assistant Degree. It was during this time that she met the love of her life, the late Leon P. Farrow, Sr., and he swept her off her feet, and took her to Las Vegas to marry her. No one could call her, "J" like Leon could when he called or spoke about his "Queen." In 1996, she moved back to Danville, Virginia where she was employed at Hallmark Healthcare until she retired.

Mrs. Julia was a member of the Unity Baptist Fellowship Church under the leadership of the late Pastor Howard L. Graves, Sr. and remained faithful to her church and the leadership of Pastor Crystal Motley, until her decline in health. She served on the usher board and sung in the choir, where she sung "Ride Out Your Storm."

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three brothers, Walter Rodgers, William Rodgers and Herman Walker; three sisters, Elizabeth Rodgers (Tina), Helen W. Davis and Shirley W. Dodson.

She leaves to cherish her memories, a daughter, Shirley Tucker ( Tony) of Danville, Virginia; three grandsons whom she adored, Gregory Davis (Tyrce), Anthony Rodgers (Cassandra) and Eugene Booth (Danita) all of Danville, Virginia; her precious great grandchildren, Samya, Nadiya, Serenity, Antonetta, Cadajhi, Ahmadae, Kobe, Mulawrence, Tohndre and Brianetta; bonus children, Valarie Foster, Leon Farrow, Jr., Cheryl Farley, Nestar, June and Anton Farrow, all of Brooklyn, New York; a sister, Ella R. Brown (Preston), Richmond, Virginia; Special Friends, Georgia Carter, Deacon David and Janice Stamps; a host of her loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Celebration of Life Service for Mrs. Julia Ann Rodgers Farrow will be held Saturday, August 20, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Unity Baptist Fellowship Church, 104 Banner Street, Danville, Virginia, Pastor Crystal Motley, Eulogist. Prophetess Rena Kernodle, Rising Sun Missionary Baptist Church, Officiating. Interment will be at Danville Memorial Gardens, 510 Church Avenue, Danville, Virginia.

A public viewing will be held on Friday, August 19, 2025, at J. L. Dodson and Sons Funeral Establishment, 447 Old South Main Street, Danville, Virginia, from 4pm – 6 pm.

The family is at the residence of her daughter, 209 Wither's Road, Danville, Virginia. The family is asked to assemble at her daughter's residence at 10:00 a.m. on the day of the service.
