Julia Hull-McCurry Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 16, 2024.
JULIA MARIE (HULL) McCURRY, 53, passed on from this life following a series of illnesses. She died at her home in Goodland, Kansas on May 7, 2024. Julia was born on July 29, 1970, in Dodge City, Kansas, the daughter of Evelyn (Maes) and Byron Dean Hull. She was a graduate of Dodge City Schools, including Sacred Heart Cathedral Grade School, Dodge City Senior High School, and Dodge City Community College. Julia attended Kansas State University and received her degree in Social Work from Fort Hays State University. We will always remember her beautiful smile and wonderful sense of humor, but we especially will remember her lovely singing voice. Julia frequently sang solos for area weddings and funerals at Sacred Heart Cathedral and was a dedicated choir member at the church. She enjoyed her work as an historical interpreter for the Boot Hill Museum, where she was a soloist for the museum's Long Branch Variety Show. Julia also worked in local law offices and at retail stores. Her favorite car was a 1985 V6 Ford Mustang. She loved classic Hollywood movies and all of nature (especially an occasional fishing trip). Julia's favorite movie musical was "Xanadu". The lyrics of its title song will tell you something about her.

The love, the echoes of long ago

You needed the world to know

They are in Xanadu (with every breath you drift away)

A million lights are dancing and there you are, a shooting star

An everlasting world and you're here with me, eternally.

Survivors include her siblings: Jeffrey Hull, Brian Hull, Andrew Hull, Calista Hull McBride, Jo Hull Brisbane, Mary C. Hull, and Michael Hull. Julia was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Christopher N. Hull, and her husband Daniel McCurry.

A private family service and interment will take place at Maple Grove Cemetery, Dodge City, Kansas, at a later date. The family suggests memorials to support music programs in your schools, wherever you reside.
