Mulhearn Funeral Home - West MonroeGraveside funeral services celebrating the life of Julia “Tud” Bernice Welch New, 91, of Sterlington, Louisiana will be held at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, November 26, 2025 at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Julia was born on August 15, 1934, in Crowville, Louisiana and passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on November 20, 2025.
Tud was a beloved wife, nurturing mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. Julia had a gift for turning simple moments into lasting memories. Her kitchen was the heart of her home, always filled with the comforting aroma of meals made with love and the laughter of family gathered around. She found joy in the little things like a good cookbook, a hidden gem at a thrift store or garage sale, or a sunny afternoon spent outdoors in her swing drinking coffee with her beloved sons and pets, Coco and Katrina.
Her love for animals, her passion for nature, and her devotion to family and friends made her a beacon of kindness and generosity. Whether she was hosting a backyard gathering or sharing stories over coffee, Julia made people feel seen, heard, and loved.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe D. New; parents, Julius and Ruth Welch; and granddaughter, Dawn Upshaw Rose.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Joey New (Lunar), Paul New (Amy), and Debbie Upshaw (Danny); grandchildren, Danny Upshaw, Jr. (Anna) and Brad New (Samantha); and great grandchildren, Grace Rose, Nate New, and William Upshaw.
She leaves behind a legacy of compassion, creativity, and connection. A life beautifully lived and deeply appreciated. Though she is no longer with us, her spirit lives on in every shared recipe, every thrifted treasure, and every moment spent in the company of those we hold dear.
