In Loving Memory of Julian Spencer Scarborough

Julian Spencer Scarborough, age 75, of New Market, Maryland peacefully passed away on November 7, 2024. Born in Baltimore, Julian was the cherished son of the late Theodore Ashley and Rita Hyser Scarborough. His life was a testament to courage and dedication, proudly serving in the Army during the Vietnam War, where his bravery and unwavering values left an indelible mark on all who knew him. Julian found joy and solace in the pages of crime and criminal justice novels. His passion for sports was a beacon of inspiration, whether he was cheering for the Orioles and the Ravens or sharing his vast knowledge as a youth soccer coach and referee. As the coach and soccer commissioner at LFYAA, Julian nurtured young athletes, teaching them the importance of perseverance and sportsmanship.

A man of many interests, Julian was an avid collector, carefully curating stamps, coins, baseball cards, and model trains. His love for NASCAR, football, baseball, and soccer brought excitement and joy, and his travels to the beach of Ocean City were treasured moments of relaxation and adventure. Above all, Julian’s greatest joy was his family. He treasured every moment spent with his loved ones, especially his grandchildren, always present at their sports events and celebrations of their achievements. His infectious sense of humor brought laughter and warmth to every room he entered. In his younger years, Julian delighted in tinkering with electronics.

Julian was preceded in death by his beloved parents and his brother, Theodore Scarborough, along with his loving stepfather, Franklin Gadd. He is survived by his devoted wife of 53 years, Elizabeth “Liz” Scarborough (née Doud); his beloved sons, Matthew and his wife Bernadette, Benjamin and his wife Allison, and Andrew and his wife Michelle; his cherished grandchildren, Tyler Hott, Lexi Taylor, Aidan Scarborough, Julian Scarborough, Aryonna Martin, Reece Brown, and Emerson Scarborough; and great-granddaughters, Hadley, and Lenni Hott. Julian will also be deeply missed by his loving brothers, Ashley and Stephen Scarborough, and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Julian’s remarkable life at Singleton Funeral & Cremation Services, on Thursday, November 14th, from 2 – 4 PM and 6 – 8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday at 11 AM at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, with inurnment to follow at a later date.
