Juliana Mary Preissing, 88, of South Bend, Indiana, passed away on January 23, 2025. Juliana was born to the late George F. and Catherine A. Steffen on June 11, 1936, in Chicago, Illinois. On October 11, 1958, she married George Dennis Preissing who preceded her in death on May 12, 2024. She was also preceded in death by her grandson, Jason Midla, her parents, and her seven siblings: Charles, Rita, George, Francis, Jerome, Philip, and Rose Marie (Schmider).
Juliana is survived by her children: Jennifer (Douglas) Hill, Christopher (Carrie Sandahl) Preissing, Mary (Todd) Midla, and Patrick (Trisha) Preissing. She enjoyed 15 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her companion of 34 years, Floyd Elrod.
Juliana graduated from Alvernia High School in Chicago, Illinois. She enjoyed learning, taking some college level courses and continuing education classes throughout her life. She retired from Memorial Hospital, South Bend, in 2006 after nearly 30 years of service in Central Supply.
Juliana loved visiting with her family and traveling to all their homes near and far. Whether celebrating an event or just spending time, she really enjoyed her loved ones. She loved to give gifts, never forgetting a birthday or Christmas Present. The last 34 years of her life included spending time with Floyd and his family. Many times, the two of them could be found feeding the squirrels and mushroom hunting by the river. Juliana's interests included visiting her children, playing games with her grandchildren, gardening, yard work, and shopping. She loved sweets, especially dark chocolate.
As per Juliana's wishes, she will be cremated and laid to rest at St. Joseph's Cemetery in River Grove, Illinois. Hahn Funeral home, Mishawaka, has been entrusted with handling the final arrangements.
