In Loving Memory of Juliana Ulep Taburaza
Juliana was born in Ilocos Norte, Philippines in 1952 to Felix Ulep and Antonina Ulep. She attended High School in Quezon City at Camp General Emilio Aguinaldo. All through grade school and high school she was a scholar, always receiving honors. At a young age, she was an honor student who always strived to do her best, and excelled. She was active in school and immersed herself in dance and choir. She attended the Philippines College of Commerce where she majored in Economics. During the 1970s, The Ulep family immigrated to the United States for more opportunities.
She worked for The San Francisco Attorney General's office and began her career as Legal Support Secretary. She was eager to learn and further her career. When there was an opportunity, her interest always grew, and she moved up the ranks to Legal Support Supervisor, then to Lead Legal Support Training Analyst. She commuted everyday to San Francisco or Oakland, as she was appointed lead for both offices. While working for the Attorney General's office her children were growing. To further pursue their educational dreams, her and Joseph embarked on a journey together and opened their first care home. For many years she successfully managed being a mother, successful career woman, and business owner. In 2006, after working for the Attorney General's office for 30 years, she retired to further pursue her dream of acquiring more Care Home businesses.
In 1998, she and Joseph bought their first care home, Royal Colony in Berkeley, a 32-bed facility, adult residential Facility. Soon to follow, they purchased Family Courtyard, a 72-bed facility. They also pursued owning Skilled Nursing Home Facilities. Juliana and Joseph set the bar high with all the facilities they owned and operated. They successfully owned and operated a total of 7 care homes and 2 skilled nursing homes throughout the Bay Area. From San Francisco, Richmond, Berkeley, Hayward, Castro Valley, and all the way to Milpitas. Juliana served 4 different counties, and 3 different populations, ranging from adult to elderly care. It was truly her vision and life passion. Her work touched so many lives, she was well-known in the community. Her memory, life work, and reminders to help those in need is something to remember and cherish.
Juliana was a beloved wife, most cherished mother, loving Mama Jules to her grandchildren, gracious care provider, shopping partner, and much more. The ongoing behind the scenes work was a testament of the love and sacrifice a mother holds. She dreamed a dream, and achieved them all to raise her family rooted in education, moral, and values. Juliana was truly a gem. She built a stable and successful business empire to ensure the future of her family. On September 24, 2025, Juliana Ulep Taburaza passed away at the age of 72.
Juliana is survived by her beloved husband, Joseph Taburaza and their cherished children Joshua, Jonahlee, Jasmine, and Janelle. She is also will be missed by her 6 doting grandchildren, Jacob Tambalo (11yo), Jordan Trias (9yo), Camille Carbonell (9yo), Josephine Trias (7yo), Dillon Carbonell (6yo), and Jullian Carbonell (4yo).
Services for Juliana will be held on October 10th and October 11th, 2025
On October 10th, a viewing will be held from 4pm - 8pm with a Funeral Rosary/Vigil presided by Father Jun at 6pm at Holy Sepulchre Funeral Center (1051 Harder Road,
Hayward, CA 94542).
For October 11th, services will continue with a10:00am Funeral Mass at St Joachim Catholic Church (21250 Hesperian Blvd,
Hayward, CA 94541). Committal and Internment will follow Mass at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Reception to follow at Stonebrae Country Club, 202 Country club Drive,
Hayward, CA 94542
