Julie Ann Castañeda (Herrick)
Julie Ann Castañeda (Herrick), our loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and a lifelong resident of Utah, passed away on November 5, 2021 after a long three-year battle with cancer. She was 63 and passed comfortably in her home in Fruit Heights, UT.
Julie was a devoted mother to her children. She enjoyed reading, gardening, and spending quality time with loved ones. She was born and raised in Ogden and graduated from Bonneville High School in 1976. She later married David on November 23, 1979 in Ogden, Utah. She worked 12 years starting at the IRS, shortly after she moved to Hill Air Force Base. She quickly became a supervisor in the travel office. Following that job was the most important and rewarding job, being a full-time mother to four children whom she loved with all her heart. During her final years, she enjoyed watching her grandchildren and spoiling them with kisses and love any time she could. After Julie's diagnosis she fought her illness head on until the end with all she had. She did everything to be with her family as long as she could. Julie made sure those who knew her felt her immense love for them. There was little she wouldn't do for her family and friends. She passed surrounded by her loved ones.
Julie is survived by her parents, Richard and Evelyn Hartmann; her husband, David Castañeda; her children, Kylie and her kids, Brinley and Boston; Jordan (Elizabeth) and their kids, Evalynn, Eli, Ezekiel; Brandon (Megan), Matthew (McKenzie); and Julie's siblings, Shelley (Bill) Alvey, and Jeff (Sandy) Herrick. She was preceded in death by her father, William Edgley Herrick.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, November 11, 2021 at 10 a.m. at Lindquist's Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist's Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Order Videos
