Julie Hoksbergen, 66 of New Sharon, passed away Tuesday evening, August 20, 2024 at the Mahaska Health Partnership Hospice Serenity House in Oskaloosa. Funeral services will begin at 10:30 am Saturday, August 24, 2024 at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in New Sharon. Burial will be held in the Mormon Point Cemetery near New Sharon. Visitation will begin at noon on Friday August 23, 2024 at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in New Sharon with the family present from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the New Sharon Food Pantry. Holland-Coble Funeral Home of New Sharon is in charge of arrangements.
Julie Ann Hoksbergen, the daughter of Marcus and Dorothy (Anderson) Gott, was born on August 30, 1957 in Oskaloosa, Iowa. She graduated from North Mahaska High School with the class of 1975 and was proud to be the first girl to join FFA at North Mahaska. Julie started working at the Overall Factory in New Sharon while in high school working there for a total of 21 years before going to Vermeer. She then worked part time at the New Sharon Care Center before working the night shift at Montezuma Manufacturing retiring in 2022. Julie's passion was horses. She was a member of the Skunk River Saddle Club for 25 years and was on the North Mahaska FFA Advisory Board for many years. Julie was a wonderful seamstress, enjoyed baking pies, cooking oatmeal cakes and meeting her friends at Meskwaki Casino where she had many lucky nights. Julie loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and enjoyed playing cards along with helping people.
Her memory will be honored by her children, Michelle (Aaron) Wiggins of Prairie City and Marcus (Amanda) Hoksbergen of Gilman; three grandchildren, Quinn Hoksbergen, Augustus Hoksbergen and Levi Wiggins; her siblings, Bonnie Vander Linden of Oskaloosa, Melvin (Ruth) Gott of Montezuma, Joe Gott of What Cheer, John (Charolette) Gott of Pleasantville and Marilyn Gott of New Sharon along with many nieces, nephews and friends.
Julie was preceded in death by her parents, Marcus and Dorothy Gott and her sister-in-law, Mary Gott.
