Heaven gained a very special angel on February 14, 2023. Our family's sweetheart and forever Valentine, Julie Renee Lemieux, 61, is now free from the trials she faced throughout her life. Julie was born on August 5, 1961 with Down Syndrome. Even though she faced obstacles her entire life, she was the light of our family. She loved working around the house and watching soap operas. Julie wrote the most beautiful and profound cards and she loved hard. As she aged, Julie suffered from the devastating effects of dementia, but even in her last moments was singing and laughing to her favorite artist, David Cassidy.
Julie will be greatly missed by her mother and caregiver, Phyllis, her siblings Lori (Patrick) Lemieux-Woodcock and Rob Lemieux, her sweethearts Emily (Steve) Plachta, Reid and Mason; Alli (Freddy) Rivas, Suliana and Freddy Jr.; Rebecca Veneklase, Adam Woodcock, and Anne Frazier.
She was greeted in heaven by her father, Ernest, her grandparents, Robert and Jeanette Idsinga, Baby Rivas, and many other family members.
Special thanks to the staff at Edison Christian Life Services, especially Ruthie, and also Faith Hospice.
A private family service has taken place. Julie will be interred at Rosedale Memorial Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to Edison Christian Life Services or the Alzheimer's Association.
