Juliet "Julie" Anne Lloyd Graham, 70, of Aquasco, MD, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2022 at her home. She was born on March 1, 1951, in Washington, D.C., to the late Raymond Calvert Lloyd and Barbara Elizabeth (Smith) Lloyd.
Julie grew up in Southern Maryland and was proud of her home. She was a dreamer and wanted to explore the world. She worked as a legal secretary for Hogan Lovells law firm in Washington, D.C., for 23 years until her retirement in 2012. In her spare time, she took courses in Interpretive American Sign Language at Gallaudet University, where she was one semester short of earning a degree.
She married her best friend, Donald A. Graham, Jr., on Feb. 1, 2011, in Annapolis, MD. They were together for a total of 38 years. Their union, coming after 28 years of togetherness, officially merged their two families: Julie's daughter, Maria, and son, Travis, and her stepsons Nicholas and Christopher. Julie had eight wonderful grandchildren who she liked to spoil.
Julie was active throughout her life and always up for an adventure. Julie's absolute favorite pastime was cruising the ocean waters for a week to two weeks at a time. Over 20 years, she boarded 15 ships and discovered places as diverse as the Caribbean and Alaska.
She enjoyed taking exercise classes, riding her bike and dancing. She loved to walk the trails around her home or the Boardwalk in Ocean City, MD, just to listen to the sounds of the world pass as she soaked up the beautiful weather. Never one to meet a stranger, Julie spoke to everyone as if you were a dear friend and treated everyone as an equal.
She was a toe-tapping country music fan who especially loved the music turned up loud when she was doing her step aerobics. Julie was a member of the Southern Maryland Boot Scooters for 10 years. A talented baker, Julie made delicious cakes she would lovingly decorate for all occasions. She celebrated the small things in life and cherished every moment she was able to spend with her family.
Julie is survived by her husband, Donald A. Graham, Jr., of Aquasco, MD; children, Maria Lin Tazelaar-Ngo of Baldwin, MD, Travis Nickolaus Tazelaar of Silver Spring, MD, and stepchildren, Nicholas Andrew Graham of Sinking Spring, PA, and Christopher Michael Graham of Hanover, PA; eight grandchildren; and her brother, Steve Allen Lloyd of Washington, DC. She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Barbara Lloyd and siblings Donald Raymond Lloyd and Michael Joseph Lloyd.
The family will receive friends for Julie's Memorial Life Celebration at a future date in the spring of 2022.
