DICRESCENZO, Julio John -- passed away peacefully on March 26, 2025 at the age of 90. He said his goodbyes to his family and made sure that everyone promised to take care of his beloved wife, Joan DiCrescenzo of 67 years. Julio was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Josephine DiCrescenzo. Devoted father of Frank (Debra) DiCrescenzo, Patricia (Robert) Beck and John (Tracey) DiCrescenzo. Loving Grandfather "Pop" of Frank (Amanda) DiCrescenzo, Brett (Natalie) DiCrescenzo, Heather (Christian) Barlow, Scott (Morgan) DiCrescenzo, Eric (Hannah) DiCrescenzo, Nicole (Christopher) Buchman, and Robert Beck. Beloved Great-Grandfather "Pop-Pop" of Simon DiCrescenzo, Isla DiCrescenzo, Jonah DiCrescenzo, Nora Barlow, Christopher Buchman and Alice DiCrescenzo. Brother of Fran Shone, Emma Malin, and the late Mary Palma-Weigner, JoAnn Pointkowski, and Anna Green. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Julio was born and raised in Camden, New Jersey. He attended Camden Catholic High School and enlisted in the United States Army in 1955; he served for 2 years. Julio and Joan, formerly Senatore, were married on October 26, 1957. They resided in the Fairview section of Camden prior to settling into their forever home in the West Collingswood Heights section of Haddon Township, New Jersey. He worked on sheet metal in Philadelphia and Mt. Laurel. However, Julio's true passion showed when it came to working on cars, he was commonly found in the garage at the top of his driveway working on anyone's car until sundown. Afterwards, you could find him with a stogie in the corner of his mouth and grease on his hands. When he wasn't in the garage, you could find him rooting on his children and grandchildren in different sports and events from youth to collegiate levels, often followed by a "that a boy" or "that a girl". Later in life, Julio's greatest joys came from attending family weddings and parties, never wanting to miss one. Julio, Jules, Dad, Pop, Pop-Pop--no matter the name, was a man of few words but you always knew he loved you through his actions.
The viewing will be on Sunday, March 30, from 6 to 8 pm and visitation hours will be held on Monday, March 31, from 9 am to 10 am at Gardner Funeral Home in Runnemede, New Jersey. The funeral service and celebration of life will be on March 31 at 11 am and held at Saint Joseph the Worker Parish, Saint Vincent Pallotti Church in Haddonfield, New Jersey, the entombment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Cherry Hill following the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Center for Dementia Research https://www.cdr.rfmh.org/donate-now/ would be appreciated.
