Julius "Butch" Frank Harris was born January 20, 1948, to the late Arthur and Willie Mae (Whitehead) Harris. He was the second of two children born to their union. Butch was always full of life. He possessed a charismatic personality, and an unmatched sense of humor. Butch attended Roosevelt Elementary School and graduated from Wenonah High School in 1966. He confessed his belief in Christ at an early age at St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church in Roosevelt City, Alabama. After graduating, he enlisted in the United States Army. He re-enlisted several times over the years. During his tenure, he traveled to Thailand, Korea, and Vietnam. His final re-enlistment took him to Anchorage, Alaska, a city he made his home. He moved through the ranks to staff sergeant in the Army. While in the military in Anchorage, he served as motor pool sergeant until his military retirement. After retiring, he worked as a security guard in the federal prison, the Alaskan pipeline, and the United States Postal Service. He retired from the United States Postal Service in 2011. He remained in Anchorage, Alaska enjoying the fruits of his labor until his untimely passing on August 12, 2025. His loving memory will be forever cherished by his sister, Jean (Robert) Banks of Bessemer, Alabama, nephew, Robert E. Banks, Jr of Gardendale, Alabama, niece, Leslie "Pooh" (Levy) Walker of Alabaster, Alabama, great niece, Chryslan Walker of Alabaster, Alabama, great nephew, Trey Walker of Alabaster, Alabama, his loving companion Patricia E. Evers of Anchorage, Alaska, his loving pet dog, Bubba, and a host of family and friends. He will be laid to rest with a 21- Gun Salute at Montevallo National Cemetery in Montevallo, Alabama. And Thank You For Your Service.
