Julius Holmes Sr., a beloved member of the community and a dedicated Local 150 Operating Engineer, passed away on October 18, 2023. Born on February 25, 1928, Julius touched the lives of many throughout his journey and will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Julius leaves behind a legacy of hard work and dedication in his career as a Local 150 Operating Engineer. He approached his work with unwavering passion and commitment, always striving to make a meaningful difference in the projects he undertook. Julius's expertise and skill played an instrumental role in shaping the infrastructure of our community, leaving behind a lasting impact that will be admired for years to come.
But beyond his professional achievements, Julius cherished his role as a devoted family man. Julius's children were truly the light of his life - Julius Holmes Jr., Terry Holmes Sr., Chandra Huff, Tammie Holmes the late Graylin Holmes- their joy and happiness brought him immeasurable pride. He is preceded by his loving first wife Sarah Jane Holmes (1980) and 2nd wife Cynthia Holmes (2019), who stood by his side through thick and thin, sharing countless memories filled with love and laughter.
Not only was Julius a dedicated father, but he embraced the joys of grandparenthood wholeheartedly. His grandchildren Jared Holmes, Kyra Holmes, Jamal Holmes, Tiffany Holmes, Randy Holman, Gregory Holman, Patrice Holman, Terry Holmes Jr., Jeremiah Holmes, Kirk Winters were blessings that filled his life with love and laughter. Each interaction with them brought him immense joy as he watched them grow and thrive under his loving care.
Julius was also fortunate to have shared incredible bonds with his siblings: Charles Holmes Sr., James Holmes, Ellis Holmes; as well as Sylvia Holmes Cook - a sister whom he adored dearly. Their unwavering support through both joyful and challenging times offered him solace and strength.
He leaves behind cherished memories that will be held close to the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him. As we bid farewell to Julius, let us celebrate his legacy and the profound impact he made during his time with us.
May he rest in eternal peace.
