June L. Burden, age 84, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 16, 2024, at her daughter's home in Bolivia, NC.
Ms. Burden was born in Monticello, NY, a daughter of the late Stanley J. Burden and the late Louise Fiocca. She was always involved in her community and spent her entire life serving and helping those in need. Ms. Burden was a former member and leader of 4H, volunteered at Project Gateway and Alternative to Violence, and served in the Auxiliaries for the Union Vale Fire Department and the Germantown Hospital. She also owned and operated Burden Referral Center, a company that assisted released inmates in finding jobs and housing. In addition to these organizations, Ms. Burden volunteered with many other charities and became longtime friends with the many people she helped and worked with over the years.
She was also a devoted member of several churches throughout her life. Currently she was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Conway, SC.
In addition to her parents, Ms. Burden was predeceased by Two sons, George S. Coddington and Scott K. Theiss; One daughter, Boni-Lea Coddington; One great grandson, Sylas Kole Thomas; Two half-brothers, Eddie DeVellis and Patsy DeVellis; and Two special life companions, Thomas G. O'Connell and BJArne Vatne.
Survivors include One Daughter, Brenda Martin-Buffa (Earl) of Bolivia, NC; Daughter-in-law, Janel Johnson (SC), Seven Grandchildren, Angela Theiss (NY), Jessica Theiss (NY), Kaitlyn Theiss (RI), Brianna Lea (Martin) Beebe (& Travis) (NY), McKenzie Theiss (RI), Mikayla Buffa (NY), and Earl A. Buffa, Jr. (MD); Five Great Grandchildren, Logan Jewett, Calvin Carl, Carter Porter, Carmine Porter, and Colton Michael Beebe; One half-brother, Donald Burden (IA); Three half-sisters, Natalie Smithover (Carl) (NY), Joyce Tedesche (Frank) (NY), and Deborah Burden (IA); and many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, March 2, 2024, at Westminster Presbyterian Church with Rev. Watson Gunderson officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church fellowship hall. The burial will take place in Fishkill, New York at a later date.
